"Theres beauty in anger, and anger for me is passion"

I'm pretty sad about Alexander McQueen, as I'm sure a lot of people are. It was always an ambition to go to one of his shows one day.

I found these images on my computer from an old university project. The second one is of Aimee Mullens who is an amputee who appeared on his catwalk I think in 1998. Even though this was 12 years ago it looks like it could be from 2010. Pretty incredible considering fashion is so driven and affected by trends. Certainly unique and timeless...

These images were from the book 'Radical Fashion' by Claire Wilcox, which I would definately recommend.

Richard Heeps

I had to post about one of my favourite photographers Richard Heeps. He is local to me, (Cambridge) and I have been to a couple of his open studios and
exhibitions. I have his book which these photographs are in titled 'Mans Ruin'. The images have a Rockabilly, 50's Americana style with really vivid colours. I have been looking at these for inspiration since I'm on the vintage train of thought right now...

Visit his website for more www.richardheeps.co.uk/. I think he has some exhibitions coming up.

When I have a house of my own I am definitely gonna hang some of his prints on the walls. :-)

Vintage Prints website

I have been browsing this website a lot recently.....some great vintage fabric finds (good prices too). I love how you can now get these over the internet without having to trawl the charity shops etc..

Cecil Beaton Fabrics

As a lover of all things vintage and retro inspired, I love the latest Cecil Beaton fabric collection by Beaudesert. The designs feature his iconic drawings. The one bottom right is Greta Garbo's eye, not sure I could deal with so many eyes staring at me but hey....

These have really inspired my ideas for new designs.

Heres the man himself and his drawing of Garbo:

Degree Show and beyond.

Having recently graduated in Printed Textiles, I am beginning my life as a real designer :-). I have to admit its pretty daunting, but exciting too. After a bit of a haitus to recharge my creative energy, I'm thinking up new ideas and starting on new designs.

Here are some images of my degree show piece, which is a 3 metre digital and hand printed length of silk. My degree collections all feature in my online portfolio at http://charlottebarnes.carbonmade.com , if you want please have a look and tell me your thoughts...
